If you want an alternative to the mass-produced junk that clutters the walls of our homes, you are in the right place.

My work is intended to touch your heart, make you smile, and feel like it’s all going to be OK — maybe better than OK. My creations are the perfect gift for the females in your life - for friends, mothers, sisters, and their little ones.

My imagination runs wild.
Come, follow me on flights of whimsy.

About Me

My name is Peterine. Unusual name, yes. My mother made it up before she got married because she liked the names Josephine, Pauline, and Micheline. But she wanted something different, so she said to herself “I’m going to have a daughter and name her Peterine”. She later met and married my dad whose name ironically was Peter. So I guess I was meant to be.

I chose the name Queen of Hearts Studio because my heart is in everything that I create, and the heart shape is my favorite design element. Painting is my first love, although I am fascinated by and dabble in using cloth and vintage findings. I can't stay away from flea markets, garage sales, or estate sales. I’m fascinated by old stuff and love to use it in different ways.

Here I am, current day, at a retreat in lovely Santa Fe

I grew up and still live in the Chicago area. I was always encouraged to pursue my creative spirit. In fact, my mother liked to joke that she “fed me crayolas”. (Not really, so no need to call child services.)

I got my undergraduate degree in Art at Northern Illinois University, specifically watercolor, and later an MBA in finance from DePaul University in Chicago. I then survived the corporate battlefield for many years. Now I've returned to what the Universe intended for me, listening to my heart and expressing it through my hand. I have a home-based studio in Batavia, IL and when I’m not at my studio you can find me at local art shows.
